The heart of the prescribing module is managing repeat medication. Getting that up and running is a significant undertaking (see Getting Started with Prescribing - Managing Repeat Prescribing).
However, many elements of the prescribing module can be hugely impactful on their own and don't require the same level of training, or changes in how you work as a practice.
The following are features that you can use from the day one but do need to be enabled for you:
- Prescribing Warnings / Prompts
- Informing patients when their medication is issued
- Automated functions:
- Adding vaccine specific PSD codes when a PSD is added
- Calculating Cockcroft Gault
- Prompting staff to calculate and save ChadsVASC, record outcome in notes (e.g. whether a patient needs to be started on a DOAC) and either leave for review from reports, or task to clinician to review
- Sending Contraception Signposting messages - particularly useful if you want to direct patients to community pharmacies for oral contraception
- Send messages about specific medication when it is issued - currently includes SGLT2s, DAMN drugs, Teratogenic Drugs - list will grow!
The following are features you can use without any configuring from our end:
- Bulk Stopping Repeats - e.g. if not issued for >12m (this is actually just using a SystmOne feature)
- Contraception - Review UKMEC warnings for contraception
- Contraception - Action requests for Contraceptive Pills
- DOACs - Review DOAC dosing
- Immunisations - run your childhood imms campaigns - see reports in Welby Innovate Prescribing / 3c Childhood Imms
- Questionnaires - Send and action Specific Medication questionnaires
- Vaccinations - Run vaccination campaigns
