A DRUM, or a Dispensing Review of Use of Medicines, needs to be done by an individual with a patient. A patient completing a Medication Review questionnaire independently should not be coded or counted as a DRUM. However, if the questionnaire is completed with the patient as part of their Annual Review appointment, it is appropriate to code a DRUM.
We have developed a process that some dispensing practices use to help with this...
- When a patient completes the final stage of their annual review, our system prompts the HCA, nurse, or clinician to complete the Medication Review questionnaire with the patient. It only takes a couple of minutes, and this also helps the medication review process.
- If this is completed with the patient, a DRUM is coded in the background at the time.
If you would like this prompt enabled for your practice, just let us know!
