Specifying who blood tests are assigned to

Modified on Fri, 21 Mar at 3:45 PM

If a blood test is outstanding due to an ad-hoc request, the Recall Overview will recommend assigning the bloods to the requester.

In all other cases, you can choose where results get directed to. The options are:

  • Usual GP (default option)
  • Following day's duty clinician
  • Display the last 6 months of appointments at your practice and ask staff to assign to the most appropriate GP
  • A locally configured alert - this is useful if you have a particular nurse, clinician or team who bloods should go to

If you pick this last option, you need to configure the alerts that you want to display. To do this...

  1. Navigate to Patient Status Alerts:
  2. Go to the folder "IHS Assign Work To", select the status alert already there and copy it:
  3. Enter the text you want to display here in the name of the alert:
  4. Select the clinical report: "Bloods - Assign bloods - using status alerts when no ad hoc request inc Find Clinician - default is not to"
  5. Click "OK" and test it (won't work on test patients).
