March 2026 - New Supply Restriction Pathway in Development

Modified on Tue, 17 Mar at 6:17 PM

Thanks again for working with us to develop on you supply restriction pathway. I've not been bombarded with emails from you so I'm assuming no news is good news!

Since emailing I've been working on a protocol for managing supply restriction, where it is indicated. New features of this protocol:

  • Clearer instructions on how to restrict supply when necessary:

  • This box will appear with repeats popped out so you can work through the instructions with repeats on another screen
  • If a patient has been restricted to weekly prescriptions for two weeks in a row it will advise tasking a prescriber to review

This protocol will be triggered when a patient has had multiple invites for annual review and not responded.

I've also developed a new protocol for patients who have a high priority medication review indicated. This is where the request for a medication review has been made on the prescribing overview template and the box ticked to say that it is high priority. This protocol will recommend trying to book a med review. If that isn’t possible and the patient hasn't been recently invited, it will send an invite. If the patient has been invited and not responded then the protocol will go down the path of considering and recommending supply restriction.

If this change works OK the last step will be to link it in with restrictions due to overdue monitoring. As ever, and particularly with new developments, please do let me know if it's not working, causing confusion or you have ideas for improvement
