We have found that surgeries displaying old pathology reports that have not been archived take longer to load patient records than those that don't. So here are some quick instructions to help.
Switch them off so they are not displayed
In organisation preferences, under clinical policy, click on Patient Home
You will see the option for Pathology/Radiology to Archive.
If you untick both boxes this will remove them entirely from the home screen.
If you leave show ticked and just untick expand, this will still display the title, but not expand all the reports, until you click on the plus symbol
In the next step we can show you how to bulk archive reports for the last 2 years, but any that are older than that can only be done manually, from the patient home page. So it may be beneficial to leave the show box ticked, if you have lots from over 2 years ago, so you can manually remove them as you come across them on the home page.
Bulk archiving pathology
In the workflow tab, select 'Filed Pathology/Radiology Search'
You can search on a 6-month time frame, but if you have more than 2000 reports, for the time chosen a message will appear to warn you of this, so it will only display 2000. You can keep running for the same date ranges until you have archived all the reports.
Tick the relevant boxes for the follow-up actions you wish to archive, then click run report.
The results will appear on your screen, if you are happy to bulk archive all the reports shown, click on one of the reports and press Ctrl & A, this will highlight all the reports on the page.
Then right-click on one of them and select archive:
If you click to run the report again, if you had less than 2000, you should now have an empty screen, if you had more then 2000, you will get some more to action.
You can continue to change dates to look at all reports awaiting archiving over the last 2 years.
