Filing Results
This is our recommendation for filing Vitamin D results, to work alongside the reports and system detailed below:
Result | Result Indicator | Action | Comment |
<50 | Unknown | Other | Filed as Unknown / Other as reports will identify whether result is normal for the patient and whether any further action is required, as per Practice protocols. |
>50 | Satisfactory | No further action |
|
>200 | Abnormal | Speak to Doctor |
Clinical Reports
There are 3 categories for "Needs Review" - details below. The default setup assumes that these will require an appointment to review and patients in these reports will drop into the invite reports. If you plan to review them from the reports themselves, or by tasking clinicians to review, let us know and we can configure the system to work that way for you.
Clinical Report Name | Notes |
*** PATIENTS TO REVIEW INDIVIDUALLY
*** ADMIN: Inform Renal of Vitamin D Result: Sarcoidosis or CKD4/5 and under renal
*** NEEDS REVIEW: ALL - Send task to Review: Add codes Ub09R AND Xa48e to remove from report for 4w | Will return 0 unless your practice has opted to take this approach |
*** NEEDS REVIEW: Latest Vit D - >200
*** NEEDS REVIEW: Latest Vit D<25, may need Vit D loading dose but in exclusions for prescribing
*** NEEDS REVIEW: Latest Vitamin D 25-50 but in exclusions for sending advice
*** PRESCRIBER TO ACTION: Issue Vit D Loading Dose (latest <25, no high dose since, not in exclusions)
*** PRESCRIBER TO REVIEW: Consider Stop Prescribing Vit D and advise OTC as latest >50 | This is low priority and you may decide not to review these patients. Our Prescribing Overview will also flag this for consideration at medication review |
1) COMMUNICATIONS TO SEND IN BULK
1A) SEND - Comms Annex Preset "Vitamin D - Advice to take OTC supplements" - add code Xaa7b (A/S) | (A/S) means can be setup to auto send whenever the record is retrieved. Let us know if you'd like that enabling for your practice. |
1B) SEND - Letter Template "Vitamin D: Pathology Action - Insufficient" - add codes Xaadc AND Xaa7b
2) SEND - Comms Annex Preset "Vitamin D - Contact us to arrange an appointment" - add code XaJnh | Will return 0 if your practice has opted to review from reports / tasks |

Pathology Overview
This is an example of what the pathology overview page looks like:
Review in Progress - this will remove patients from reports for 4w
Issue high dose Vitamin D - this triggers a protocol that issues an acute prescription for vitamin D, codes Vitamin D deficiency and informs the patient. The medication it issues is Fultium-D3 20,000 - twice weekly for 7 weeks. If you need it to prescribe something different in your area, please let us know.
Vitamin D outcome - here you can pick options like "No further action" or "Discussed with Patient". You'll then need to add a note in the box below. This is partly to aid good documentation, and partly so the system knows what's been reviewed.
