Blood Pressure

Modified on Wed, 6 Aug at 12:27 PM

This article takes you through the journey of how a patient's blood pressure is managed by our system, and the table below also provides a summary of the process.

1) Clinic BPs

2) Processing Home BPs

3) Using the new auto-calculating BP Questionnaire

4)  BP Targets

1) Clinic BPs

This video demonstrates how the system helps manage clinic blood pressures. It explains recording BP, using home readings for accuracy, and checking compliance with anti-hypertensive medication. The system provides guidance based on NICE guidelines, patient age, and conditions. It records actions, offers next steps, and suggests home BP readings or follow-up appointments as needed.

2) Processing Home BPs

This video explains processing home blood pressure readings using the recall overview template. It covers steps for recording readings, calculating averages, and handling results. The system flags issues, suggests next steps, and generates patient letters for follow-up tests. Further videos will provide additional details.

3) Using the new auto-calculating BP Questionnaire

Since recording these videos, we've developed a questionnaire and protocol that can be used to auto-calculate the average BP. When this is enabled for your practice, patients will be sent the new questionnaire, along with a covering message that explains they need to record their readings and then submit when ready.

Once they've submitted their questionnaire, they'll appear in this report:

Retrieve, the record, action this alert and follow the next steps...

From that point on, the protocol will work in the same way it did previously, just without the need to faff around with spreadsheets or calculators!

4) BP Targets

There is a separate article about reviewing BP Targets here.
