Our systems are pretty complex and that can slow SystmOne down. We are always looking at how we can improve the efficiency of our systems, but there are a lot of things you can do that have a huge impact on speed.
In this video we explain changes you can make to speed up SystmOne:
Here's a check list of things to do:
View Maintenance
- Turning off these views won’t affect functionality in letters or templates but will greatly speed up record retrieval.
- Views that need to be left active are:
- Views you want to appear in Clinical Tree
- Views you want to print, e.g. for summaries or visits
- Views you want to attached to referrals
- If you use Ardens, you can turn off any views that start with "Ardens Ltd"
- For our systems, you can turn off views that start with "IHS" or "Welby Innovate"
Clinical Tree Configuration
- Go to "Organization Preferences" > "Clinical Policy Tree Configuration."
- Review the views and templates in your clinical tree
- Remove or turn off any views or templates that are outdated or no longer in use, as they can slow down the system.
Manage Patient Status Alerts
- Patient status alerts are useful but can accumulate over time and slow down the system.
- If you're not using certain modules in our system (e.g., pathology), turn off the associated status alerts.
- Be mindful that if you turn off alerts and later need to use those modules, you’ll have to enable them again.
- Use the “enabled” filter to see which alerts are currently active, and turn off any that are not needed.
- If you're using Ardens, consider turning off system-wide alerts as recommended by them.
- If you're using our Recall system, you can turn off the Ardens alerts in the folders that begin with "Ardens LTC"
Clear Temporary Files on Individual PCs
- On each individual PC, navigate to the TPP app (in Windows apps) and clear out temporary files regularly.
- This can help with local performance, especially if the system has been logged in for long periods.
Log Out Periodically
- Avoid leaving System One logged in for extended periods, as this can slow it down. Regular logouts help clear temporary files and prevent system lag.
Check for Other Local Optimizations
- Review your local alerts and configurations, and turn off anything not actively in use.
- Consider reviewing and removing unnecessary protocols, automations, and alerts that may be slowing down the system.
Review User Preferences
Although not covered in this guide, consider reviewing the separate video on user preferences to reduce unnecessary pop-ups and other personal settings that may slow down performance.
These steps should help optimize your System One setup and improve performance across your organization.
