February 2026 - Issues with the Select Tests for Monitoring template

Modified on Mon, 2 Mar at 11:37 AM

We’ve identified a couple of issues with the Select Tests for Monitoring template and how monitoring configured there is followed up. One issue was with free texted Other Monitoring configured in the template, and the other was with 12m Prolactin monitoring.

The issue with Other Monitoring was caused by a SystmOne view that was accidentally set not to display a line of data for female patients. When attending for annual reviews/bloods, “Other Monitoring to do at the same time” wouldn’t have displayed on the Recall Overview. Specific monitoring like annual LFT, FBC, etc will have displayed as normal, but free-texted other monitoring won’t have appeared. The other issue was with 12m Prolactin monitoring, which wasn’t configured properly.

We’ve built reports you can use to review patients who may have been affected and who aren’t due monitoring soon or now anyway. In the Recall Folder:

To review these patients, use the Select Tests for Monitoring template to see what was configured, check whether it’s been done and decide whether it can wait until monitoring/AR is next due. We expect most practices will have less than 10 patients to review, if any. You may also want to review any patients appearing in the report “*** REVIEW: Any Monitoring with >1 time frame - Update to set correct time frame” – this can occur if someone has tried to future date a change in monitoring frequency, but hasn’t set a future date for those codes.

We’ve conducted checks to ensure there are no other similar issues. As ever, we really appreciate it when you let us know if anything isn’t working as it should, and we apologise for any issues caused.
