Where appropriate, bulk-adding PSDs can be a safe and efficient way to record when patients can have medications and vaccinations administered.
Rather than just add the code for PSD, our approach is to add other specific codes simultaneously so we can distinguish between different PSDs that have been added. We can then identify patients who can have flu vaccine administered by a HCA and warn when one isn't in place.
To add PSDs in bulk...
1. Go to clinical reporting (Menu bar / Reporting / Clinical Reporting)
2. On the tree, navigate to Welby Innovate / Welby Innovate Prescribing / 1 Pharmacists to Action:
3. View patients in report by selecting the report and then clicking on the magnifying glass
4. Select all patients by clicking on this icon:
5. Add the first read code by clicking on the next icon along: , and type in the first code in the report name., e.g. XaBUe:
Press Ok (this will bulk add a read code specific to the type of PSD)
6. Select all patients again and add the PSD read code (XaZ08). This time, copy and paste the appropriate into the notes box. For example:
" I authorise INACTIVATED ADJUVANTED QUADRIVALENT INFLUENZA VACCINE (aQIV) 0.5ml by IM injection to be administered to this patient ONCE. This is valid for ONE year from today. "
Press Ok
7. If applicable, go to the next page by clicking on the right arrow:
8. Repeat steps 4-6 for each page
9. When this is complete, close the report by clicking on “Close” in the top left of the screen
